Access and navigate Configuration Manager through the Itential Platform interface.

Open Configuration Manager

To access Configuration Manager:

Open Platform dashboard

Log in to Itential Platform

Navigate to Configuration Manager

Select Configuration Manager from the Design collection in the left navigation menu

Configuration Manager opens in your active browser tab.

Understand the interface

Configuration Manager organizes content into five main views:

DevicesView and manage individual network devices
Device GroupsOrganize devices into logical collections
Device BackupsAccess configuration backup history
Configuration ParsersDefine parsing rules for configuration syntax
Golden ConfigurationsCreate and manage baseline configurations

Toolbar actions

The toolbar at the top provides quick access to common tasks:

  • Create (+): Create new configurations, groups, or parsers
  • Search (🔍): Search across device collections
  • Home (🏠): Return to the Configuration Manager home page
  • Documentation (📖): Open product documentation
  • About (☰): View release version information

Home page features

The home page includes:

  • Pinned items: Quick access to frequently used elements
  • Quick Start card: Search device collections or create new ones
  • Recent activity: View recent configuration operations

Work with devices

Access device details from the left navigation menu.

Device details view

The device details page displays information in two sections:

Upper card (summary):

Lower card (tabs):

ComparisonCompare configurations between backups or live state

Work with device groups

Device groups represent collective associations of device IDs for bulk operations.

View group details

To open a device group:

Expand the groups menu

Click Device Groups in the left navigation

Select a group

Click the group name to open its details

Edit device groups

From the group details page, you can:

  • Add or remove devices from the group
  • Update group name and description via the settings menu (vertical dots icon)
  • View all devices currently in the group

Work with device backups

Device backups provide point-in-time configuration snapshots.

Backup list view

The backups view provides:

  • Filtering: Narrow results by device, date, or status
  • Sorting: Order backups chronologically or by other criteria
  • Pagination: Navigate through large backup sets
  • Batch deletion: Remove multiple backups at once

Backup details view

The backup details page displays:

Upper card:

  • Backup metadata (device, timestamp, status)

Lower card tabs:

ComparisonCompare with other backups using side-by-side diff view

Edit backup metadata

To modify backup properties:

Open the settings menu

Click the vertical dots icon on the backup details page

Update fields

Edit description, notes, or access control settings

Click Save to apply updates
