Browse available courses and select a course to begin.

All users in your organization can access training content — no special permissions are required to view courses. However, to launch a training environment, you must have special permissions. See Training environments for more information.

Training environments

Training environments are on-demand instances that you launch from within training courses to complete hands-on exercises. Training environments connect to a shared lab, which provides pre-configured third-party infrastructure (Cisco IOS routers, Infoblox) for you to experiment with during courses.

The following table shows how training environments differ from Platform environments:

Launch a training environment

To launch a training environment, you must have an available training seat and the training-deployments:read and training-deployments:write roles. Existing paid seats automatically transfer to lab environments for each course.

1

Open a course

Open a course in Itential Academy.

2

Launch the environment

Click Launch Environment when prompted in the course content.

3

Wait for provisioning

Wait for the training environment to provision (typically 2–3 minutes).

A training environment ends:

  • Automatically after four hours.
  • When you close a course.
  • When you click Terminate on the Itential Academy Training card on the Cloud Hub Environments page.

When your training session ends, your seat is returned to your organization’s allocated seats.

Training environments do not persist data between sessions. Each new training environment starts with a clean configuration to ensure you always work with a fresh environment when following course exercises.

View your training environment

Your active training environment appears on the Environments page in Cloud Hub under a separate Itential Academy Training card. This card displays:

  • Training environment name and status.
  • Time remaining until automatic termination.
  • Terminate button to end the session early.

Training seats

Training seats determine the number of concurrent training environments your organization can run simultaneously. Organizations start with zero seats by default.

Seats are shared across your organization rather than assigned to individual users. For example, an organization with three seats allows any three users to run training environments concurrently.

When a training environment closes, its seat returns to your organization’s available seat pool.

When all seats are in use, the Launch Environment button is disabled and displays: 0 out of 5 seats available. Contact your CSM for additional seats.

Quizzes and certificates of completion

Some courses include a quiz that you take after completing all of the course’s content. Quizzes use multiple-choice questions and give you immediate feedback, correct or incorrect, as soon as you submit an answer.

Be aware of these details:

  • You must complete all of a course’s content before you can start its quiz.
  • You must get all questions 100% correct to complete the quiz.
  • You can retake a failed quiz an unlimited number of times.
  • Each attempt is recorded individually and is visible in your progress dashboard, along with the score, date and time, and pass or fail status.

Passing a course’s quiz makes a downloadable Certificate of Completion available for that course. For courses without a quiz, the certificate becomes available as soon as you finish all of the course’s sections.

Restarting a course resets the certificate of completion, and the quiz must be retaken.

Complete a course

A course is marked complete once you finish all of its lessons and, if it has a quiz, pass the quiz. Beyond that, completion behavior depends on whether you have an active training environment:

  • No training environment — Course marked complete normally.
  • Inactive or expired training environment — Course marked complete normally.
  • Active training environment — A warning modal displays: Completing this course will immediately shut down your active hands-on training environment. Any unsaved work will be lost. Click Complete Course to proceed, or Cancel to continue working.

You can re-launch a training environment for any completed course to revisit exercises or practice specific skills. Each launch starts a fresh environment.

Admin Reports

Admin Reports is a reporting dashboard in Itential Academy that gives organization admins visibility into their team’s training. From one place, you can see course enrollment, progress, and quiz results across every user and course in your org, filter by date range, and export the data to CSV.

Access to Admin Reports is controlled by the academy:admin role. You may need to log out and then log back into Platform in order for the role to take effect.

Filter by date range

Both tabs support a date range filter on either Start Date or Completion Date. The filter persists as you switch between tabs and defaults to no filter.

Export to CSV

Export the currently filtered data from either tab:

  • Export by User — One row per user.
  • Export by Course — One row per enrollment.

Both exports include user name, email, course name, progress, status, quiz result, quiz score, attempt count, start date, and completion date.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I use Itential Academy instead of LearnUpon?

Itential Academy replaces LearnUpon and offers several improvements:

  • Integrated experience — Access training directly from Cloud Hub without switching between systems.
  • Universal access — All users in your organization can access training courses by default.
  • Hands-on environments — Training environments connect to real lab systems (Cisco IOS, Infoblox) for practical exercises.
  • Updated content — Training materials aligned with the latest Itential Platform features.

Can my whole team train at the same time?

Your ability to train simultaneously depends on your organization’s training seat allocation. By default, organizations start with zero seats. Contact your Customer Success Manager to purchase additional seats if you need multiple team members running hands-on training environments concurrently.

All team members can access course content and videos simultaneously — training seats only limit concurrent hands-on environment usage.

What happens to my LearnUpon progress?

Progress data from LearnUpon is not migrated to Itential Academy. Export any records of completed LearnUpon courses before the transition if you need them.

Organization admins can track course enrollment, progress, and quiz results across their org in Admin Reports.
