Manage service groups

You can modify service group access, create new service groups, and manage service group details from the Service Groups tab of a gateway cluster’s details page.

First, navigate to the Service Groups tab:

Navigate to Itential Platform.

Select Gateway Manager from the Administration collection in the left-side navigation menu.

Navigate to the Gateways tab in Gateway Manager.

From the list of gateway clusters, select the gateway where you want to manage service groups.

Navigate to the Service Groups tab on the gateway cluster details page.

Edit service groups

From the Service groups tab, you can update the service group’s name and description, modify which user authorization groups are delegated access from this service group, and add or remove services associated with the group.

Select the service group you want to modify from the list of service groups.

From the service group’s details dropdown, make your edits and click Save.

Delete service groups

Delete operations cannot be undone. Before deleting a service group, consider the potential impacts and review which user groups might lose access to services.

From the Service Groups tab on the gateway cluster details page:

Select the service group you want to delete from the list of service groups.

From the service group’s details dropdown, click Delete.

When prompted, confirm that you understand that you are about to permanently remove this service group from your Itential Platform environment by clicking Delete.

Troubleshoot common access issues

”I can’t see a service I need”

  • Verify that you’re a member of a user group assigned to a service group containing that service
  • Check with your administrator about proper group assignments

”I can see a service but can’t run it”

  • Ensure your user group has the service:run role in addition to service group access
  • Contact your administrator to request the necessary execution permissions

”Services aren’t appearing in workflows”

  • Confirm that you assign the services to service groups accessible to your user account
  • Verify that service group permissions are properly configured
