Pre-Built Resources Video

Step 1

Before beginning the use-case exercise, you will need to launch your IAP instance.  Log into IAP Cloud and then click the blue Launch icon.  Your IAP instance will open.

 Step 2

We will begin by reviewing the Pre-Built resources that will be utilized in our use-case.  Pre-built resources allow you to accelerate development by reusing existing resources.  From the IAP Dashboard, select Automation Studio and then expand the Workflows dropdown.

Step 3

Search for and expand the LCM Port/VLAN – IOS workflow group and select the Lab – LCM Port VLAN Update workflow.

Step 4

In this workflow, you can see various task types.  IAP has four task types: Termination, Automatic, Operational, and Manual.   Let’s define these individually.

  •  Every workflow has Termination tasks to start and end the workflow.  All other tasks are placed between the Start and End Termination tasks.
  • The green tasks represent Automatic tasks. These tasks will execute without intervention.
  • Next are Operational tasks, which are purple. Operational tasks are used to control workflows with conditional branches and loops and to manipulate run time data.
  • The fourth task type is Manual tasks.   When used, Manual tasks are grey and represent tasks that require human interaction.

 Step 5

This workflow also contains Child Job tasks, which do not fit into any of the task type categories.  Child Job tasks make existing workflows reusable by incorporating them into the workflow you are building.

 Step 6

This workflow will be used to update the interface description of our Lifecycle Manager instance.

Take some time to review this workflow and the remaining workflows in the LCM Port/VLAN – IOS workflow group, as well as the Port Turn Up – IOS workflow.

Step 7

This use-case will also utilize multiple pre-built Transformations to reformat data.  Expand the Transformations dropdown and then search for and select the Lab – LCM Port VLAN Create transformation.

 Step 8

This Transformation will be used to reformat data in the workflow we will build later in the training.   Review this Transformation, as well as the Lab – LCM Port VLAN Update Pre and Post Transformations and the Lab – LCM Port VLAN Delete Pre and Post Transformations.
