Managing the Lifecycle of a Service (IOS) - Configuration Manager (Part 1)

Before we dive into Lifecycle Manager, let’s look at the Cisco IOS device that we will use for our service.

Step 1 

From the IAP Dashboard, select Configuration Manager.

Step 2 

From the Devices dropdown in the left navigation panel, select the IOS device.   

Step 3 

Notice the device is online.   When selected, IAP will run a quick test to ensure the device is reachable.  Click Load Configuration.

Step 4 

Configuration Manager will perform an API call to the IOS device and grab the configuration of the device.

Step 5 

Next, we will take a backup of our device configuration.  We will reference this backup later in the training after we have setup Lifecycle Manager and provisioned some changes against the device.  To create a device backup, click the in the Device Details section.

Step 6 

For the backup Description, enter Lab – LCM Port VLAN - XX.  For the Notes, enter Pre lab backup.   Click Create.  

 Step 7 

The backup is created and now appears on the Backups tab.
