The `isArray` task checks if an input is an array and returns a boolean (`true` or `false`) indicating whether the input was validated as an array. ## Potential use case Use the `isArray` task when you need to validate whether a dataset is an array. It is commonly used after a task that does not have a constant outgoing variable type — for example, an external API request that could return either an array or a string. ## Properties | Incoming | Type | Description | | -------- | ----- | ----------------------------- | | `arr` | Array | Required. The input to check. | | Outgoing | Type | Description | | ----------- | ------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------- | | `isAnArray` | Boolean | Returns `true` if the input is an array; returns `false` if not. | ## Examples ### Example 1 The `arr` variable is statically set to `["1","2","3"]`. ![](/_fern-img/6a535cb68db3902107589a46eda278281af5f7e2ca1b9f4adbeefecca40b3577.webp) The outgoing result is `true`, indicating the input is an array. ![](/_fern-img/a674ee4458e3ba454bcdb43f30d87255e851281f87df998c9bd5f4b3ba0d8a83.webp) ### Example 2 The `arr` variable is set to `"1","2","3"` — notice the square brackets `[]` are missing from the beginning and end of the value. ![](/_fern-img/82237d96bd973095670172629175e3ab44477a0c240a658c8f147b4799fae38e.webp) The task returns `false`, indicating the input is not an array. ![](/_fern-img/0b1bcdb33ad27089f45799b1ffbb6f351848e607a3814d26654dcdb25224a5e3.webp) > Reference for the isArray workflow task, which checks whether an input is an array and returns true or false.
