# Gateway properties.yml location change

> Breaking change in 2022.1 that moves the default directory for properties.yml in new Gateway installations.

## Breaking change

The following breaking change applies to the 2022.1 feature release.

### New default directory for properties.yml

Starting in 2022.1, the default directory location for the `properties.yml` file in all new Gateway installations is `/etc/automation-gateway`.

There is no change for prior installations in earlier release versions; however, if Gateway is reinstalled from 2022.1 the location of the file will change.
