# Metadata file - edit JSON schema

This page shows the metadata file and JSON schema property editor in Itential Gateway.

| UI label | Description                                                                                                                                         |
| -------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 1        | Displays the name of the metadata file to be edited.                                                                                                |
| 2        | Use the **Editor** to modify properties in the JSON schema.                                                                                         |
| 3        | Use the **Cancel** icon to exit the editor. Changes made to the JSON schema will not be saved.                                                      |
| 4        | Use the **Save** icon to save changes made to the JSON schema. To the right of the **Save** button are icon buttons to export/import a JSON schema. |

In Gateway 2022.1, import and export icons are not displayed in the editor.
