You have now built out all of the different pieces for this exercise: a JSON Form as well as a workflow with both a child job and a newly-created Transformation. Next we will create an Operations Manager automation that will tie this together with a manual trigger.

Operations Manager Video

Step 1

From the IAP Home Page, click on Operations Manager.

Step 2

Operations Manager allows users to control when, how, and with what data a workflow should run. 

Create a new automation by clicking the + at the top of the left navigation panel.

Step 3

The Create Automation window opens. Enter Lab – Software Upgrade – EOS – XX for the name, then click Create.

Step 4

Enter Lab – Software Upgrade in the Workflow search box and then select the Lab – Software Upgrade – EOS – XX workflow from the workflow dropdown box.

Step 5

Click the + under Triggers to add a trigger to your automation.

Step 6

Enter Manual for the name. Select Manual in the type dropdown

Step 7

Enter Lab – Software Upgrade in the Form search box. Select Lab – Software Upgrade – EOS Form – XX.

 Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 8

Click the Run Manually button at the bottom.

Step 9

Fill out the form. 

  • Auto Approve – checked
  • Device – EOS
  • Image – Choose the opposite of the version you noted during the Device Configuration module:
    • CloudEOS-4.24.swi
    • CloudEOS-4.27.swi
  • Flash Memory - flash:
  • Version - Choose the opposite of the version you noted during the Device Configuration module:
    • 4.24
    • 4.27

Click the Run Manually button.

Step 10

The automation has started. You can track the automation’s progress in the Job Details window or on the workflow’s canvas. 

 Double click the Child Job task.

Step 11

Then click the Actions tab.

Step 12

Now click the Open Child Job button.

Step 13

Here you can see a visual representation of the workflow and the status of each task. In the Job Details section, the Start Auto Work button is available. Auto Work allows any manual task to be automatically worked without the user locating each manual task individually. 

Click Start Auto Work

Step 14

We receive an Info pop-up that Auto Work is now running. At this stage, the workflow is conducting Pre Checks. You can follow the progress of the workflow, either in the Job Details pane or in the workflow canvas. 

Step 15

It now progresses to Set Boot Config.

Step 16

Reloads the device.

Step 17

Verifies the new configuration.

Step 18

Complete the post-checks.

Step 19

Query the pre and post checks and provide a Diff to the user.

Step 20

Completes the Eval Auto Approve.

Step 21

And finally, show the workflow is complete.
