Article summary

The Tags application in Admin Essentials is designed to make workflows, forms, and other items search enabled. You can create or edit tags, as well as add tags to a specific collection.

Available views, features, and interactions in the Tags application can be limited based on user permissions.

To access Tags:

  1. Select Admin Essentials from the Itential Automation Platform (IAP) home page.
  2. Click Tags from the Quick Start area of the Admin Essentials welcome page. The Tags dialog displays a list of items in table view.

Tags UI

The Tags interface is intuitively simple to navigate:

  1. Click the plus sign "+" icon located in the upper-right corner to create a new tag.
  2. Use the search bar to locate a tag from the collection list. Enter one or more characters in the search bar. The characters should correspond to the tag name. A filtered list of results will return.
  3. Click the menu button (stacked dots) at the end of each row to display the menu to update tag details or delete a tag.
  4. Use the Sort feature to display tag names in ascending or descending order.
  5. Once all actions are complete, click the Close button at the bottom to close the dialog.

Creating New Tags

To create a new tag:

  1. Click the plus sign "+" icon in the upper-right corner of the Tags dialog.
  2. Provide a unique tag name and a brief description.
  3. Click the Create button to save your inputs. A pop-up message displays in the upper-right corner of the screen to indicate the new tag was successfully created.

Editing Tags

To edit a tag:

  1. Click the menu button to the right of a chosen tag and click the pencil icon.
  2. Provide the desired edits to the tag (i.e., name, description).
  3. Click the Update button to retain your changes. The Tags table immediately refreshes to reflect the edits that were made.

Deleting Tags

To delete a tag:

  1. Click the menu button to the right of a chosen tag and click the trashcan icon. A confirmation dialog displays.
  2. Click Delete to confirm the deletion. A success notification displays to indicate the tag was deleted.

Adding Tags to Collections

Currently, you can add tags to the following collections.

Collection Description
Workflows Use the automation settings in a workflow to add a tag.
MOP For both Analytic and Command Templates, use the template settings to add a tag.
Forms View the metadata to add a form tag.
Configs View the metadata to add a tag.

Workflow Builder

To add a tag to a workflow:

  1. Create a new automation, and save. Alternatively, you can edit an existing automation.
  2. Click the menu (stacked dots) icon in the upper-right of the canvas and click View Metadata to open the Workflow Settings dialog.
  3. Search for the desired tag name that was created.
  4. Add the tag as you would groups to a workflow.
  5. Click Save to update the workflow.

MOP

To add a Template tag:

  1. Create a new Template, and save. Alternatively, you can edit an existing Template.
  2. Click the menu (stacked dots) icon in the upper-right and select View Metadata to open the Template Settings dialog.
  3. Search for the desired tag name.
  4. Select the tag to add it to the field.
  5. Click Save to update the Template.

Form Builder

To add a Form tag:

  1. Create a new Form, and save. Alternatively, you can edit an existing Form.
  2. Click the menu (stacked dots) icon in the upper-right and select View Metadata to open the Settings dialog.
  3. Search for the desired tag name.
  4. Select the tag to add it to the field.
  5. Click Save to update the Form.

Golden Config

To add a tag to Golden Config:

  1. Create a new Golden Config, and save. Alternatively, you can edit an existing Golden Config.
  2. Click the menu (stacked dots) icon in the upper-right and select View Metadata to open the dialog.
  3. Search for the desired tag name.
  4. Select the tag to add it to the field.
  5. Click Save to update the Config.
