Bulk IP Address Allocation (Netbox) - Operations Manager Part 2

Now that we have built all of the individual pieces of our exercise we will run our automation to see the results of our use-case.

Operations Manager Video (Part 2)

Step 1

Navigate to Operations Manager and select the Lab – Bulk Allocate IP Addresses – NetBox – XX automation you previously built.

Step 2

Click the Run button on the Manual Trigger.

Step 3

The Manual Trigger opens on the right side of the screen and prompts you to upload a file.   Upload the IP Request spread sheet to the form and click Run Manually.

Note: The IP Request spread sheet is available in the attachments section at the bottom of this article.

Step 4

The results will open in a new Operations Manager tab.

Step 5

The workflow will progress from task to task.  When the workflow reaches the Child Job task, the task will run the sequential looping and each iteration will be run after the previous iteration is finished.  Once all iterations have run, the workflow will continue running and progress to the Render Jinja Template task.  

Step 6

When the workflow reaches the View HTML task, the workflow will pause as this is a manual task that requires user intervention.  

Click the Start Auto Work button.

Step 7

The Task Details will open.  As you can see, the hostnames and IP Addresses are dynamically populated from their form entries.  Review the IP Address Allocations and click Ok.   

The workflow will complete.

Step 8

Navigating to the NetBox User Interface, select IPAM in the left-hand menu and then select IP Addresses.

Step 9

Here you can view the allocated IP Addresses.
