# Import a Gateway configuration

POST https://example.itential.io/gateway_manager/v1/gateways/{clusterId}/configuration/import
Content-Type: application/json

Imports a DB configuration into a connected Gateway 5 cluster from inline DSL content or a git repository. Platform API equivalent of 'iagctl db import'. The gateway must be connected, enabled, and not readonly. Supports force overwrite, validate-only, and dry-run check modes.

Reference: https://docs.itential.com/itential-cloud/api-reference/gateway-manager/import-configuration

## Authentication

- `Authorization` header (basic auth, required) — Basic authentication of the form `Basic <base64(username:password)>`.

## Request

### Path parameters

- `clusterId` (string, required) — The cluster Id of the target gateway

### Body (application/json)

This endpoint expects an object.

- `options` (object, optional)
  - `source` (enum, required) — Content source: 'content' for inline DSL, or 'git' to pull from a repository.
    - Allowed values: `content`, `git`
  - `content` (string or map from string to any, optional) — DSL document to import: a YAML/JSON string, or the object returned by export. Required when source is 'content'.
  - `git` (object, optional) — Git source configuration. Required when source is 'git'.
    - `url` (string, required) — Git repository URL.
    - `file` (string, required) — Path to the DSL file within the cloned repository.
    - `reference` (string, optional) — Branch, tag, or SHA to check out. Defaults to the repository default branch.
    - `username` (string, optional) — HTTP basic auth username for HTTPS repositories.
    - `password` (string, optional) — HTTP basic auth password. Supports $GATEWAYSECRET_(alias) references resolved by the gateway.
    - `privateKey` (string, optional) — SSH private key file path on the gateway host filesystem.
  - `force` (boolean, optional) — Overwrite existing resources. Default: false.
  - `validate` (boolean, optional) — Parse and validate only, with no writes. Mutually exclusive with check. Default: false.
  - `check` (boolean, optional) — Dry-run diff showing what would change, with no writes. Mutually exclusive with validate. Default: false.

## Response

### 200

The import result: lists and counts of added, replaced, and skipped resources. When check is true, returns a dry-run diff instead.

- `added` (list of string, optional)
- `replaced` (list of string, optional)
- `skipped` (list of string, optional)
- `summary` (object, optional)
  - `added` (integer, optional)
