Release notes overview

This section contains release notes for all Itential Automation Gateway (IAG) 5.x versions. Each release page lists the bug fixes, improvements, and security updates included in that version.

Release types

Itential Platform uses semantic versioning in the format MAJOR.MINOR.MTCE:

Major releases introduce breaking changes or significant architectural updates that may require action before upgrading.
Minor releases introduce new capabilities and enhancements. They increment the minor version number (for example, 5.0.0 → 5.1.0 → 5.2.0).
Maintenance releases deliver bug fixes and security patches. They increment the patch version number (for example, 5.0.0 → 5.0.1 → 5.0.2).

Tags

Each changelog entry is tagged to help you quickly identify what kind of changes the release contains.

Tag	Meaning
`feature-release`	Introduces new features or significant enhancements
`maintenance-release`	Contains bug fixes, security patches, or minor improvements
`bug-fix`	Includes one or more resolved defects
`security`	Includes one or more security fixes
`breaking-change`	Contains a change that may require action before upgrading
`iag`	Affects Itential Automation Gateway (IAG)
`gateway-manager`	Affects Gateway Manager

Upgrading

Before upgrading, review the release notes for every version between your current version and your target version. Pay particular attention to any releases tagged breaking-change.

IAG compatibility with Itential Platform

All supported versions of Itential Automation Gateway (IAG) are tested for compatibility with all supported versions of Itential Platform. New features added in various versions of IAG might not be available in all versions of Itential Platform because a specific version of the Platform may lack the functionality to make use of that feature.

Refer to the following table to identify the IAG versions compatible with Itential Platform versions.

If a version of Itential Platform does not provide support for a feature in a version of IAG, the versions remain compatible, but Itential Platform will not be able to use that feature in IAG.
